Dating violence can be the physical or verbal abuse that happens between partners in a casual or serious dating relationship. Read through the following checklist to see if abuse is happening in your relationship. If you check more than one item, you might want to look at your relationship more carefully and find out more about teen dating violence.
Do I fear the person I am going out with?
Do I feel responsible for my partner's feelings and behavior?
Do I feel cut off from my friends and my family?
Does my partner ever shake, grab, hit, pinch, hold me down or kick me?
Does my partner call me names, tell me I'm stupid or put me down?
Does my partner tell me how to dress?
Does my partner page me more than three times in one hour?
Does my partner question me a lot about where I am, who am I talking to and what
am I doing during my day?
Does my partner check up on me frequently?
Does my partner say it's my fault when he hurts me?
Do I give in easily to my partner because I am afraid to "upset" my partner?
Does my partner use or threaten to use weapons against me?
Does my partner force me to have sex against my will?
Is my partner really nice sometimes, and really mean at other times (almost like they
have two different personalities)?
Does my partner drive crazy to scare me?
Am I afraid to end the relationship because my partner threatens to commit suicide, hurt me, or hurt my family?
