Parents & Children:
Free Help with Homework

I believe the boys and girls clubs still help students (members) with homework after school but there is also free homework help listed below:

HELP WITH HOMEWORK

With the school year underway Pasadena Public Library is here to help students with their homework needs. The library has a variety of free resources available to kids, teens and parents. All of these are located on the library’s website; Kidspage (for kids ages 5 to 12)

www.PasadenaPublicLibrary.net/kidspage and Teen Scene (for teens ages 13 to 18)

www.PasadenaPublicLibrary.net/libraryteens

Among the resources available are; Live Homework Help, Social Studies Fact Cards, ABC-Clio Suite, Learning Express, and e-books.

Live Homework Help helps students from Kindergarten through 12th grade get homework help from a live tutor in math (including algebra, geometry and trigonometry), social studies, the sciences (including biology, chemistry and physics) and English. This resource is available from 1 to 10 p.m. daily in English and from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Sunday in Spanish.

Pasadena students are using it and giving it a 95% approval rate!

Social Studies Fact Cards located on the Kidspage provide kids with information on missions, presidents, states, countries and religions.

ABC-Clio Suite located on Teen Scene is a great resource for U.S. history. The database includes illustrations, audible quotes from presidents, historical figures such as Rosa Parks, timelines, and much more.

Learning Express also located on the Teen Scene allows students to practice for standardized tests like the high school placement exams or the SAT without having to buy the book. It scores the tests and coaches students on their incorrect answers. Learning Express can also give students extra practice on math problems or grammar skills. Students can also download e-books and audio e-books from the library website. They can choose from popular reading, classics, books to help with a science fair project or books for a report that’s due tomorrow!

All students need to access these free resources with a Pasadena Public Library card and an internet connection. If they don’t have an internet connection at home all ten Pasadena Public Library sites offer free internet access during library hours.

For more information on these resources and other library programs, call (626) 744-4045
